Meet the Owner
Hi, I’m Kristi June French, the owner of Adventure Awaits Fido!, a small-group dog boarding, dog daycare, and dog adventure business in Baldwin, Georgia.
I am absolutely obsessed with dogs, especially dogs who love adventure. Adventure Awaits Fido! is a business, but it is also a lifestyle. I started this business because I believe dogs deserve more than a loud, stressful kennel stay. They deserve time outside, safe socialization, enrichment, rest, and a peaceful home-style environment where they can feel comfortable, loved, and cared for.
Before opening Adventure Awaits Fido!, I spent years as a high school English teacher. I still love teaching and miss my students, but now dogs are my students in a very different way. My teaching experience taught me how to create structure, set achievable goals, reward positive behavior, give timely feedback, and understand individual personalities.
Many of the students I worked with had experienced trauma or difficult life circumstances, and that taught me the importance of patience, trust, consistency, and relationship-building. That same philosophy carries into the way I work with dogs. Every dog is different. Some dogs come in confident and ready to play. Others need time, space, gentle introductions, and small steps before they feel safe. I believe earning trust matters.
Dogs communicate constantly through body language. You just have to know how to listen. At Adventure Awaits Fido!, every dog must complete a temperament test before being approved for daycare or boarding. New dogs are introduced carefully, one at a time, and I pay close attention to body language, energy levels, play style, and comfort. This helps create a safer, calmer daycare and boarding environment for every dog here.
I intentionally keep our group small so each dog receives real supervision, individual attention, and plenty of time to rest. After a day of play, socialization, enrichment, and outdoor time, dogs are usually ready for a peaceful nap during our mid-day break and a good night’s sleep at bedtime.
I currently share my home with six rescue dogs and one German Shepherd Dog of my own. My life revolves around dogs and the outdoors. I love kayaking, swimming, hiking, running, and biking. If I can do any of those things with a dog by my side, even better.
To me, there is nothing better than a good dog adventure day: exploring trails, breathing in fresh air, taking photos, watching dogs experience the world, and enjoying the company of Fido.
